Annular Eclipse of 2009 January 26

THE ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE OF 2009 JANUARY 26

The Annular Solar Eclipse of 2009 January 26 begins at sunrise in the south Atlantic Ocean and moves rapidly eastward way south of the African mainland.  It then heads north-eastward through the Indian Ocean, presenting most of southern Africa with a partial eclipse.  The path of annularity moves over Indonesia and the antumbral shadow leaves earth to the east of Indonesia at local sunset.  The next time the moon's shadow touches earth will be on 2009 July 22 for over 6m 30 sec of totality.
